Following veterinary school, Dr. Brekke completed a rotating small animal internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas in Cary, North Carolina. He then matched to a small animal surgery internship at Louisiana State University where he remained until joining the Mill Creek team.

Dr. Brekke lives with his wife, Emily, who is an Ob/Gyn resident physician at the University of Kansas Medical Center. They have a “derpy”, fun loving golden retriever named Odin and a lop-eared rabbit named Loki. In his free time Dr. Brekke enjoys cooking, smoking meat, hiking, camping, enjoying the great outdoors, and cheering on Alabama football. Roll tide!
